‘We All Scream for Orange Cream’: Coca‑Cola Drops Retro-Inspired Flavor Innovation

02-26-2025

Nostalgia meets novelty in the latest addition to the Coca‑Cola lineup.

Coca‑Cola Orange Cream and Coca‑Cola Zero Sugar Orange Cream infuse the timeless, deliciously refreshing taste of Coca‑Cola with a burst of the zesty-yet-smooth combo of orange and rich, creamy vanilla flavors. The modern-day twist on a familiar favorite hit shelves last week in the United States and Canada.

Orange Cream is one of many throwback flavors making a comeback thanks to growing demand among Millennials and Gen Z-ers for fun, unexpected tastes and sensory experiences. The newest Coca‑Cola Trademark innovation was crafted for consumers with both adventurous palates and a fondness for tradition.

“Coca‑Cola Orange Cream will appeal to variety seekers looking to mix up their routines, find joy in trying new things and discover their next favorite beverage,” said Sue Lynne Cha, VP of Marketing, North America, Coca‑Cola Trademark. “We’re constantly on the lookout for trending flavors while staying true to the essence of Coca‑Cola.”

In a new TV commercial celebrating the launch of the new product — and the cultural cachet of the flavor pairing — excited fans chase a Coca‑Cola Orange Cream truck as it cruises through a suburban neighborhood on a sunny afternoon. Mariah Carey’s 1995 pop smash, “Fantasy”, soundtracks the film, which closes with the tagline: “We All Scream for Orange Cream.”

A robust marketing campaign also includes short clips promoting the product’s intrinsics with behind-the-scenes footage from the commercial shoot; influencer-driven social media content featuring iconic duos like Pookie and Jett; and experiential sampling activations on college campuses and at marquee events.

Coca‑Cola Orange Cream and Coca‑Cola Zero Sugar Orange Cream will be available through early-2026, an intentional move to continually refresh the Coca‑Cola Trademark flavor portfolio based on evolving consumer preferences. In addition to 12-oz. and 7.5-oz. cans and multipacks and 20-oz. single-serve bottles, both varieties will be available exclusively at Wendy’s on Coca‑Cola Freestyle fountain machines. A striking packaging design will help the offerings stand out on store shelves by supplementing classic Coke red and signature Spencerian script with pops of orange-inspired colors and icons.

Orange Cream has been around since 1905 but has seen a renaissance in recent years as retro offerings have captured the attention of fans. Coca‑Cola Orange Cream launches on the heels of Coca‑Cola Orange Vanilla, which had a successful run from 2019 through 2022 but was ultimately discontinued amidst the supply chain and marketing challenges of COVID-19. Cha says the new innovation’s flavor profile has a “zestier, smoother and creamier” profile — and a bolder expression of the classic Coca‑Cola taste, will should appeal to fans of its predecessor.
